What Qigong Exercises Entails

December 20th, 2011

Qigong exercises are a Chinese method of exercising meaning it is developed through skills of your life’s energy. It is more along the lines of yoga because it is calming, relaxing, and you can do these exercises either sitting up or sitting down. For you to feel these qigong exercises, you have to have a more relaxed posture without any of your muscles tightening up.

One type of the many qigong exercises is reaching up to Heaven and pressing down to Earth. What this type of exercise entails is that you are reaching your arms up almost as if you are trying to lift a heavy object and once you are bringing your hands to your chest, you press down and end up with your legs squatting to where you are almost touching the ground but not quite. When you are moving your arms, they should be in a slow motion and your muscles should not be tense.

Another type of exercise requires you to only move your arms as you are breathing in and out. You want to have slow breaths and slow movements of your arms. You want to make sure that your body is well relaxed as you are moving your arms and do not focus too much on the movement because you will lose the posture. At the same time you are moving your arms gently rock back and forth but not too much and only to the point where you are comfortable.

Completing qigong exercises for a few minutes every day will help you relax your body and relieve your body of stress. It may be beneficial for you to complete these exercises outside in a nature type of environment so you can get that more relaxing feeling. The qigong exercises give you a complete balance of living your life in a healthier fashion.
